A condition survey commissioned by a company or an individual person who is a potential purchaser of a vessel in order that an informed decision can be made. This is an information gathering exercise on the vessel and its machinery, wherein defects are listed. The report may involve a valuation on request. An involved finance house or the client’s insurance company could also use this report after the purchase. Following the survey a verbal report of findings would be given prior to the formal report which would be completed within 7 days of the survey.
